Synopsis

Forty years after the repeal of a decree that banned women from playing football for almost four decades in Brazil, the female form of the sport is experiencing a historic moment in the country. In 2019, the CBF and Conmebol started demanding that the main clubs form adult and youth teams – and, as a result, sieves are multiplying to select players across Brazil.

Released on the eve of the 2019 Women's Football World Cup, the short documentary Geração Peneiras follows the dream of two girls who spare no effort to one day, perhaps, wear "hopscotch": 18-year-old Mariana da Silva from Rio , unveiling of the first female under-17 team in the history of Flamengo; and Kamile Pavarin, 16, from Paraná, an under-17 player for Corinthians, one of the few Brazilian teams that already has a women's team considered to be top-notch.
